Query

Please provide a comparative analysis of practices across Latin America to better understand how countries are addressing the balance between procurement transparency and the protection of sensitive information.

Summary

Public procurement platforms have been adopted by governments worldwide to ensure transparency and accountability in their procurement processes, which in turn can help counter inefficiencies, fraud and corruption. However, debates have arisen on how to reconcile transparency of this information with data protection and corporate confidentiality. Across Latin America governments have implemented solutions to this issue on their procurement platforms, including separating supplier and public access, two-factor authentication methods and privacy controls, while also omitting some sensitive information where it relates to national security
